Thanksgiving is a harvest festival celebrated mainly in the U.S. including Los Angeles and Canada. It was traditionally a thanks for a bountiful harvest but now more of a thanks for everything that life has brought you. It is celebrated on 4th Thursday of the month of November. This year it will be on November 24th.
The tradition main course is a stuffed roasted turkey. Though, in certain parts of the United States mainly the south deep fried turkey is becoming more popular. Other birds used include duck and goose. Vegetarians and Vegans eat a tofu dish called tofurkey which has turkey like flavor with using any animals in making it. The tradition stuffing has been a bread based stuffing with various herbs add it to it. Some people due to safety concerns make the stuffing separate from the bird. In the case of the turkey, the temperature of the bird should reach 165F for it to be fully cooked and if the bird is stuffed, the stuffing should also have a temperature of 165F.
Side dishes that are usually included are stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy, Many of the other sides are fall harvest vegetables such as cabbage, peas, yams, potatoes, turnips and winter squash. Other vegetables served include corn and string beans. Rolls also are usually included on the menu for most people celebrating this day. The desserts include apple pie, mincemeat pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and cheesecake.
The Hollywood Christmas Parade 2011 will be on November 27th at 6pm. The Grand Marshall this year is Marie Osmond. The parade Starts at Hollywood Blvd and Orange, the U-shaped Parade Route will travel east to Vine, south on Vine to Sunset Boulevard and west on Sunset, back to Orange. There is free curbside seating throughout the parade route. Grandstand Seating is availkable two ways: Santa's Package -- a $60 value for only $45 each -- grandstand seat at the parade and ticket to Madame Tussauds Hollywood or for $35 each, you can purchase a grandstand seat only.
